A high school teacher named Ashley Blumenshine has been arrested for allegedly maintaining sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student. According to reports, the 27-year-old Ashley Blumenshine is a physical education teacher at the Plainfield North High School.

According to police officials, Ashley Blumenshine was arrested on Tuesday afte she was spotted with a 16-year-old male student in a car. Police on watch were inspecting the parking lot when they spotted Ashley Blumenshine in the driver’s seat of a car, with the 16-year-old boy in the back, reports said.

Ashley Blumenshine is being held in the Adult Detention Center of Will County. Ashley Blumenshine has been charged with criminal sexual abuse, reports said. Meanwhile, it has yet to be established if Ashley Blumenshine has a lawyer.

According to Tom HernandezHernandez, spokesperson for the school, Ashley Blumenshine has been teaching in the Plainfield School District for the last five years. Meanwhile, it has been reported that a replacement teacher will carry on the teaching tasks of Ashley Blumenshine for an unspecified period.

According to Bill County's assistant attorney, both Ashley Blumenshine and the boy have confessed to sexual intercourse consensually. A contraceptive was also recovered as a poof from the car.

The principal of Plainfield North has reportedly sent text messages to parents stating that more support services will be provided to students.
