Bar and restaurant owners burn their licenses during a protest against a smoking ban in Athens
A new anti-smoking law with some of the most restrictive in Europe came into force on Sunday in Spain.
From midnight, smoking is prohibited in any enclosed public place, as well as open space near a hospital, children's play room or school.
The hospitality industry says the law will cause a decline in sales of 10% in bars, hotels and restaurants, just at a time when Spain is experiencing a serious economic crisis.
The ban on smoking in workplaces came into force in 2006 but doctors warn that 160 people die each day in Spain for smoking-related causes.
